This process is straightforward, and you can get it done in less than 5 minutes.

How to change the master code

To change the master code, you need to use the keypad on your alarm system.

Here's the step-by-step.

  • Enter your current master code followed by 802;
  • Type the new master code twice;
  • Wait for the confirmation beep.
  • And it's done. Your master code is changed, and now you can use it.

    Test the new master code

    It's important to test your new master code to make sure it's working fine.

    Follow these steps to test your new code.

  • Enter your new master code;
  • Press button 1 (OFF) to disarm the system;
  • Wait for the confirmation beep.
  • Follow these steps to test your new code.

    If you forgot your current master code

    Just in case you don't remember your master code, here's the way to test it.

  • Enter the current master code;
  • Press button 1 (OFF);
  • Wait for the beep.
  • Play the file below to hear the confirmation beep I'm talking about.

    That's the way to confirm if your code is correct.

    If you don't hear the confirmation beep, your code is probably wrong.

    You can wait for 2 seconds and try this process again.

    Sometimes we can't really remember the code. If that happens to you, follow my other article's instructions on How to reset ADT alarm without code.
