Wisenet Device Manager is Not Working

If the Wisenet Device Manager is not working and can't find the device in the network I have a quick fix for the problem, just keep reading...

Security camera network

This software is designed to work in the local network to find Wisenet IP cameras, DVR, NVRs, and encoders manufactured by Hanwha Techwin and Samsung Techwin (Hanwha predecessor).

If the software can't find the devices during the scan, make sure your computer is connected to the same local network and that it's using the correct NIC (network interface card). Also, avoid using WiFi connection to find your cameras and recorders, use an ethernet cable is better.

Let's take a look at some problems related to the error...

Network problems

Modern computers and laptops can connect to the network using an ethernet cable and WiFi and if that's the case, you need to be aware of each one you are using during the setup or troubleshooting.

The diagram below shows an example of such a network connection.

As you can see, the IP cameras and recorders are connected to the router using ethernet cables but the laptop is using an ethernet cable and WiFi at the same time and this can confuse the Wisenet software.

The picture below shows the software using more than one IP in the first Ethernet connection and no IP in the WiFi connection which is disabled.

That's a good scenario to work with because the WiFi can't interfere in the network scan process, but you also need to be careful to not confuse the different IPs that the PC/laptop is using and use the correct range during the device's configuration.

Conclusion

When the Wisenet Device Manager is not working properly, usually the problem is related to the network connection and most of the time you just need to turn the WiFi off and the software starts findind the devices.

It's also recommended to update the software to the last version.
