In this article, I show how to fix the Hikvision error code 56 that is displayed on the iVMS-4200 software and the iVMS-4500 App.
The error is related to the device MAC Address and can easily be fixed.
What is the MAC Address?
MAC address (media access control address) is a number that uniquely identifies the device's network card in a local network (ex. 58:03:FB:D5:9C:FF).
The iVMS-4200 and iVMS-4500 can communicate with a Hikvision DVR or NVR by using the MAC Address. This number is for devices and not for users.
How to fix the Hikvision error code 56
To fix the Hikvision error code 56 get into the DVR's menu and edit the entry that is binded to the user. Just set it the MAC address to 00:00:00:00:00:00.
Here are the steps:
In the DVR
- Connect a monitor and a mouse to the DVR.
- Login into the DVR using the admin account.
- Go to System Configuration > User Configuration > Edit User
- Set the User's MAC Address to 00:00:00:00:00:00
In the iVMS-4200
- Open the software
- Delete the device (DVR or NVR)
- Add the device again
In the iVMS-4500
- Open the App
- Delete the device (DVR or NVR)
- Add the device again
Now you can try to connect again and see if everything is working.
